BIODIVERSITY CONSERVATION POLICY

1. PURPOSE

The purpose of this procedure is to outline the Biodiversity Policy at the hotel.

2. DEFINITION

Biodiversity: Refers to the diversity of life in all its forms and at all levels. Although the term biodiversity encompasses everything that collectively constitutes biological diversity on earth, from genes to species and ecosystems, it is often used to refer to the diversity of plant and animal species. Biodiversity is essential for maintaining quality of life and a healthy environment. The continuous decline in biodiversity and damage to ecosystems have serious consequences, making their protection and enhancement imperative for a sustainable future.

3. SCOPE

This policy applies to the hotel’s operations as well as all business partners and suppliers who provide products and services on behalf of the hotel.

4. RESPONSIBILITIES

The Sustainability Management Team is responsible for defining the strategies, commitments, implementation frameworks, and objectives outlined in this policy. The SMT meets at least once a year to review biodiversity performance, make necessary decisions, and report to the Board of Directors.
Our management team is generally responsible for ensuring compliance with legal and ethical obligations, including those outlined in this policy.
The Purchasing and Supply Chain teams and all relevant teams at the hotel are responsible for implementing this policy.
All suppliers and business partners are obliged to comply with this policy.

5. POLICY

5.1. Biodiversity Strategy

Conservation of biodiversity is among the priority areas under our sustainability policy. It aims to identify and monitor the impacts of its activities on biodiversity, preserving the diversity of species, habitats, ecosystems, and the integrity of ecological functions.
Most of the impacts on biodiversity occur during the initial stages of the supply chain, particularly in raw material procurement operations (such as agricultural chemicals like fertilizers and pesticides and traditional cotton production that uses large amounts of water). Air, soil, and water pollution resulting from production and operational stages also negatively impact biodiversity.
The hotel focuses on identifying and minimizing these impacts, achieving a more responsible supply chain, and reducing demand on natural resources and ecosystems by ensuring resource efficiency and minimizing waste in its activities.

In this context, as a hotel, our BIODIVERSITY CONSERVATION POLICY is as follows:

• We identify and keep under control the possible direct and indirect impacts of our activities and the activities in our supply chain on biodiversity.
• We avoid materials that pose a risk to endangered species, animal welfare, and forests in our activities.
• We include the continuity of natural resources in our objectives and develop projects in this direction. We participate in efforts focusing on biodiversity conservation with NGOs and local governments.
• To raise awareness of the importance and protection of biodiversity, we organize internal training and communication activities and include this topic in our sustainability training programs.
• We share biodiversity performance annually in our Sustainability Report.
• We take actions to create, monitor, and protect the local biodiversity inventory and safeguard endemic species.
• We take actions to support and develop agricultural activities that are the livelihood of the local community.

Training

All employees within the hotel are provided with the necessary training to act in accordance with this policy and procedures, recognize crimes within the scope of biodiversity conservation, and avoid them.
It is expected that firms in the supply chain will also provide training to their employees in this context.

Violation

In case of any perceived risk, detected violation, or concern related to biodiversity degradation, it is required to send an email to the info address.
Corrective actions are taken as soon as possible to resolve the relevant situation, and the effectiveness of the measures taken is monitored.
